Downtown Revitalization

In July 2007, the Village adopted a Historic District Master Plan that outlines strategies to attract the best possible retail businesses and make development choices that fit modern retail site development principles.
 

Poised for Progress 

From 1990 to 2000 downtown Frankfort experienced a dramatic increase in the number of households. The future promises even more growth as Chicago’s suburban edge engulfs Frankfort. The Village strives to preserve the character of Downtown Frankfort as the area continues to grow.

Projects approved for development:
  • Old Frankfort Village
    A new 60,000 sq. ft. mixed-use development in the H1 district at Rt. 45 & Old Frankfort Way
  • Sangmeister Building
     A new three-story mixed-use project on Kansas Street
  • Heritage Hall
    La Salle Street Securities Headquarters renovation project on S. Hickory Street
